For those of you who don't know, in April 2013 I was involved in a four wheeling accident that left me paralyzed from the waist down and in a wheelchair. I was 26, a new mom, a new wife, a new homeowner, just finding my way in the world.
The accident & wheelchair changed everything that I knew about my life at that point. I had to figure out how to live in a wheelchair, and how to live paralyzed. Everything needed to change, from things as small as getting dressed or bringing a glass of water to the living room, to things as big as driving and working. Everything had changed.
In the four years since my accident I have been very lucky to have an amazing support system that has helped me through it all, my house has been modified, my vehicle, my job, even my parents house has been modified to accommodate my new normal. I couldn't be more thankful for everyone who has helped me get this far!
I am at the point though where I need to once again let down my walls, swallow my pride, and ask for help.
I would like to make two major purchases, both of which would greatly improve my quality of life in a wheelchair.
The first and most important purchase would be a new outdoor wheelchair elevator lift. My current outdoor elevator lift no longer works as it should. It often times breaks down on me and leaves me stranded.
I am starting this Go Fund Me first and foremost to raise the $6500+ needed for a new elevator lift to allow me to keep my independence.
The second purchase is more focused around the quality of life I have with my family and my son. I would like to raise enough money to buy not only my new elevator lift, but also a Firefly Electric Wheelchair Attachment as well.
Many of you have posted videos to my timeline of the firefly electric wheelchair attachment, this wheelchair attachment would allow me to more easily join my family when they walk our dogs around the hilly roads of New Hampshire, would allow me to more easily join my family at fairs and flea markets and camping events where I normally struggle in a manual wheelchair.
The total cost of the two items together is over $10,000- nothing that I am capable of doing on my own without taking out a major loan. With this page I am asking my family, friends, and friends of friends and family for support. Every penny raised will go towards first the purchase of a new lift, and anything above & beyond the lift will help me towards my goal of the electric wheelchair attachment!!
I want to thank everyone in advance who is going to help me on this quest! I have been blown away by my support system so many times already I cannot wait to see what we can accomplish together for this!!
The ultimate reward would be for me to be able to share a video with all of you of my new lift and my new electric attachment!! Please help me be able to share those exciting videos with you!!
