Hi guys! My name is Sarah Furlong and I am involved with Elevate, a Bible study for students of Trinity Valley Community College. Some of us from Elevate have the opportunity to go to Latvia this summer (May 22-June 3) to help a Christian man from Athens, Texas who lives among the Latvians. These include Ethan Edwards, Gloria Chee, Megan Weber, Jovan Pruitt, and myself. We will have the opportunity to work with orphans, offering them much needed love and attention, and to build relationships with our English speaking peers, Latvians of college/ young adult age. Our goal is to minister to the Latvians and show them Christ's love. This builds trust and opens the door for introducing them to the Lord!
We estimate this trip will cost about $2000 per person. I set a goal mount of 250% because 1) your support will go toward all those involved with this missions trip, and 2) we will be launching some other fundraisers - so I really don't have an exact goal. If we can raise more than $5000 through this, it would be fantastic!! I believe that where God opens doors, He will provide above that which we could ask or think. Please consider financially supporting our group as we go to Latvia! We have limited time to raise funds, but God does not operate in our time - we believe the needs will be met!!
We also covet your prayers and ask that you pray specifically:
- pray that God would prepare our hearts
- pray that passports and plane tickets and travel in general can be obtained smoothly ***** URGENT REQUEST ****
- pray that God would enable us to shine Christ to the Latvians despite language barriers, culture differences, jet lag, etc.
- pray that the Latvians would be drawn toward Christ!
