Hello All,
We are Elevate Youth Toronto and our organization is looking to raise $1,000 in funds to provide a one-time scholarship to two (2) low-income Black youth pursuing post-secondary education.
Our executive team is all too familiar with the financial sacrifices that youth from low income households must take to fund their education, from taking on debt to working multiple jobs while going to school. Although we all graduated with student loans, we were lucky enough to recieve some scholarship funding during our time at university/college which helped enormously whether it was going towards paying tuition, buying textbooks or paying living costs while on campus. As a result, we have decided to launch a scholarship fund for Black Youth with financial need. The scholarships will help alleviate the financial burden of obtaining higher education and ultimately support these youth on their journeys to finishing their degrees and diplomas.
Please feel free to donate what you can! Our goal is to support two students in the amount of $500 each. If we raise more funds than anticipated we will either up the scholarship amount that is awarded to each student or help support a third student on their academic journey. Eligible scholarships recipients will be required to provide proof of enrolment in a university or college program for September 2021!
Thanks for your support in advance and we look forward to updating you on the recipients of the scholarship when they are awarded in April 2021!

Elevate is a 12-week career mentorship program dedicated to Black Youth between the ages of 16 - 20 from Toronto's Weston - Mount Dennis community. Weston - Mount Dennis are two adjacent low-income, Neighbourhood Improvement Areas within Toronto. The majority of Elevate’s team grew up within this community as a black person or person of colour. We bring a deep, personal connection to its geography, shared personal and often communal experiences, an extensive level of cultural awareness, and an understanding of Black youth within the community. Elevate is focused on leading youth to sustainable career pathways, by ensuring youth have the necessary knowledge and skills to work in their desired careers, upon completion of secondary or post-secondary education. Elevate seeks to provide support to youth through 4 main program vehicles: career mentorship, internships, financial literacy workshops, and career development events.
