Let's make 2020 the year we make the Commission on Presidential Debates obsolete.
Everyone agrees that our political system is broken, and that our nation’s political debates and discourse are a big part of the problem.
That’s why Open the Debates is excited to announce Elevate the Debate, a strategic collaboration with Free and Equal Elections Foundation, to innovate the vital conversations that help us select our elected representatives.
We’re teaming up on at least two Open Presidential Debates during the 2020 election. Our first debate is happening right in the heart of the primary process, March 4th in Chicago . We already have 18 confirmed candidates, and the list is growing. There’s never been a cross-partisan debate like this before.
Instead of begging the Commission on Presidential Debates and mainstream media debate hosts for better rules, better formats, better topics, and better moderators, we’re building the alternative to make the political establishment’s debates obsolete.
Our vision is to generate a meaningful cross-partisan dialogue and debate that can serve as a prototype to help reshape the national political conversation. We want to build innovative, informative, and inclusive debates that are relevant to voters’ lives, reflective of their concerns, and designed to help bridge divides, hash out policy differences, and solve the big challenges we face.
We need your help to pull it off.
Your donation today will help us make the biggest impact possible. In a year where both major parties are shutting out their own candidates, and President Trump is flirting with avoiding the Commission on Presidential Debates altogether, the time is ripe for a grassroots political intervention.
