ELEUSINIAN a play adapted based on “Macbeth"

This Is my next project, a play adapted based on “Macbeth “by William Shakespeare.

Thanks to the support I received through GoFundMe, I managed my last project, “Good Woman of Tehran”, which was a remarkable success.

I have been the artistic director of an artistic charity in the Iranian community in London for 20 years, and since 2019, I have been the president of “London Independent Iranian Community Artistes”, a non-profit organisation.

The activities led through theatre helped us all integrate into society. While producing a play, teamwork and friendship were experienced. This has enabled us not to be lonely and depressed.

I want to continue this year to pursue the next project below.

The play and its summary are as follows:

“Macbeth, the full title The Tragedy of Macbeth, is a tragedy by William Shakespeare.

It is thought to have been first performed in 160- its dramatists' political ambition's damaging physical and psychological effects on those who seek power.

Three witches tell the brave Scottish general Macbeth he will be King of Scotland. Encouraged by his wife, Macbeth kills the king, becomes the new king, and kills more people out of paranoia. Civil war erupts to overthrow Macbeth, resulting in more deaths.

Themes:

Power, Betrayal

Shakespeare uses the language of kindness to describe Macbeth but follows this up with Lady Macbeth summoning evil spirits to aid her in her quest for her husband to become King.

She says, “Come, you spirit that tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here, and fill me from the crown to the toe top-full of direst cruelty!”

Never could words uttered by any fictional character be any more powerful than these, for she is asking for evil spirits to appear before her and make her utterly evil in every way. She wants to kill the King and feels no remorse. She wants to direct and urge her husband in the act of murder and treason because she lusts for power.

My Plan

We aim to perform this adaptation under the name of Eleusinian in Persian, with English subtitles in London.

* An adopted format where the storyline focuses on how we could become a traitor without knowing, as the character of Ross (Messenger) in Macbeth play says, “When our action does not, our fear does make us traitors.

*In this adaptation, we replaced the witches with technocrats who influence politicians and leaders for their personal profits.

* We would like to use Hologram technology for all the scenes with ghosts and war.
