Elena's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Our Friend, Neighbor and Local Bartender Elena Grandchamp underwent an aerial transfer to the Billings clinic on January 25th due to a mysterious illness that has been compromising her muscular and limb functions. On The 27th she was diagnosed with Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS), GBS is a very rare auto immune disease that causes the immune system to attack the nerves. Complicating matters, on the morning of the 29th a mass in her Thyroid was discovered, awaiting biopsy results still. She is currently receiving treatment in Billings along with inpatient PT/OT. Given the restricted range of her current bodily movements, Elena is in need of extensive occupational and physical therapy to facilitate her rehabilitation and eventual return to employment.
Elena is a familiar figure in our community, graduated from GHS and has worked in the community for almost two decades. If you’re lucky enough to know her you know she is known for her self-reliance and reluctance to seek help even in times of need. The Doctor has said it may take up to a year to rehabilitate with GBS. We all know how quickly the regular bills stack up on top of the medical. If we can all help ease her financial burdens during the hiatus from work it would be extremely appreciated. We’ve all seen firsthand how generous and loving our community can be so let’s show her some love.
