Elena's Dream Master at Imperial College in Physics

Hey everyone!

I wish this wasn't my last attempt at making this dream come true. I wish education was free and accessible for everyone, but here we are.

My name is Elena Liberti, I'm an Italian first-generation international student in the UK, and I've been accepted into one of the best master's programs in Theoretical Physics in the world at Imperial College London (QS #2 best university in the world), MSc Quantum Field and Fundamental Forces.

Unfortunately, due to Brexit, not only have my fees doubled,

but I have also lost access to any scholarships previously offered by the EU and/or UK. So here I am, finally asking for help to try and make this dream come true.

As a first-generation student, I didn't even expect to graduate with my bachelor's, but thanks to a personal loan from an Italian bank (50000 EU toward my bachelor to repay in 20 years) I was able to pay for my education at King's College London, where I recently graduated with a Joint Honour Degree in Physics and Philosophy, earning a First Class Classification.

During my time at KCL, my dream only grew bigger, and since my ambition has always been larger than my means, I decided to apply to Imperial, not even expecting to be accepted. And despite everyone I got the offer and just few days ago also the perfect grades to get into the program!

This master's program would be a necessary step toward my dream PhD and a possible career in academia (crazy, I know!). Coming from a low socioeconomic background, this achievement would be impossible without significant financial support. But I've always been too stubborn to give up at the first obstacle.

With this fundraising campaign, I hope to cover at least half of my tuition for next year's master's program and take out a personal loan (if the bank allows it) for the remaining amount. I am also trying to repay the loan I took out for my undergraduate degree by working on the side. I'm currently working for my university, both as a Fellow Researcher and an Inclusive Career Ambassador, which covers my rent and food. Additionally, I work part-time as a waitress to save up for the future.

Therefore, any form of assistance would be immensely appreciated—whether it's by donating, sharing this fundraiser, or informing me about any scholarships available for international EU students in the UK. Your support would significantly ease my financial burden and help me move closer to achieving my dream.

Pursuing this master's degree at Imperial College London represents a monumental step in my academic and professional journey.
