Elena Shugayev Memorial Fund
Donation protected
Elena Shugayev, 49, of Bloomfield, New Jersey, passed away on April 12, 2021 at Mountainside Medical Center, surrounded by her loved ones.
Elena was born on May 14, 1971 in Moscow, Russia, and immigrated to the United States when she was 17 years old. From finding a way to the U.S., to learning how to speak and write in English, to raising her daughters Alyssa and Anna as a single mother, Elena has always been the hardest working woman we know.
Earlier this month, Elena went to the dentist to get some teeth extracted. What should have been a routine dental procedure, resulted in an excessive amount of blood loss. Elena did her best to manage the bleeding on her own at home, but called 911 and was rushed to the hospital, where she went into cardiac arrest upon her arrival. While the medical team was able to revive Elena after a few minutes, she endured acute failure in multiple organs and had to be placed on life support. Despite an extremely hard-fought battle, Elena was unable to recover.
Alyssa and Anna are grateful for the doctors and nurses who took care of Elena and kept her comfortable so they could spend more time with their mother. Elena’s passing was tragically unexpected, and it has left Alyssa and Anna alone with a myriad of fiscal responsibilities. In addition to end-of-life arrangements, the sisters will need to manage their mother’s affairs, cover miscellaneous moving costs, settle outstanding debts, and potentially seek legal aid for the dental procedure.
Alyssa and Anna would like to be able to have a memorial service for their mother, but that isn’t possible at this time. Any amount you wish to donate will help the sisters put their mother to rest with grace and the remaining funds will be used to handle her affairs.
Please know that this fundraiser is being organized by Alyssa’s fiancée with the approval of Alyssa and Anna.
Thank you so much for your love, support, and thoughtful gestures during this incredibly difficult time.
