Elena Katharina

On June 15th, we will celebrate our beautiful Elena onboard Whale One. She touched so many lives in a deeply nurturing, loving and delightfully goofy way, and although she has left us too soon, we will forever feel her presence in dancing, drinking chai, fire twirling, and in and on the water where she was so profoundly connected.

To commemorate Elena's life, we are contributing to a citizen science project called Happy Whale by making a donation to Australian Marine Conservation Society and naming a whale that we recorded sighting off Mooloolaba last season. The image that has been documented is of a calf showing off its fluke with its mum. We will be naming the calf 'Elena Katharina' in loving memory of Elena's spirit and intrinsic connection to humpback whales.
