Help Elena Direct Her First Short Film!

Hello,

Thanks for checking out this little Go Fund Me of mine! I'm currently in pre-production for my first-ever short film that I will be directing. Yikes! Very exciting. Very scary. But I'm gonna lean into exciting.

The short is also written by me and titled "Blessed." It explores some of the challenges I experienced in my first year (okay, 11 months, but it feels like twice that) of motherhood and will take place at a mommy-and-me group. I'm making this short not only to jump into the deep end of directing, but also to shine a light on the insane pressure women put on themselves to make sure their baby is eating the most organic food, wearing the most non-toxic diaper and learning to communicate in sign language at six months. And yes, these are all things I've fallen prey to! But motherhood is hard, it's scary, and it's daunting - and hopefully, this short will shine a light on all of that while also poking fun at today's commercialization/Instagrammification of momming.

To make this short film the right way, I will need a crew and luckily have already found a wonderful group of people to bring this thing to life. My DP, Jeff Maksym, has made some of my favorite shorts, has a great eye, and is a wonderful collaborator. He's helped me assemble an excellent and experienced crew of professionals. While this will only be a two-day shoot, paying properly for everyone's time and the equipment, not to mention editing and post-production, adds up quickly! This is why I'm reaching out for your help in funding this project. Even if you can only donate a small amount, it would be so appreciated.
