Hi!
I'm Tasha and with an awesome group of friends we decided to help this little Elementary School in Zapopan, Mexico that could really use a hand. We have been working on this project for a few months now and have made great progress but we could really use a little more help from family and friends : )
This school is very close to where I live and I will be posting/sending everyone evidence of every step we take with the donations we receive.
The school has been requesting help from the government for years now but has not received help and it could take a very long time (but we are also working on this).
There are many urgent needs for this school and all donations will be used for:
- Building a wall to stop the flooding in the classrooms (this has been completed now and the flooding has stopped : )
- Making a concrete floor for their lunch/recess space. Right now there is just a dirt floor (August 2025: this task has been completed now)
- Outdoor furniture/benches/tables for their ¨lunch¨ area. (August 2025: School desks and tables were restored and 6 new benches were installed).
- Creating some kind of shade or roof for their recess area (August 2025: A large shade canopy has now been added in the play area and more shade will be created with the help of the government this year. See more pics below).
- Buying and installing fans for each classroom (we did 4 already and need 7 more).
- Building courts for them to be able to have physical education (August 2025: We were able to buy them two adjustable basketball hoops and PE supplies (soccer balls, volleyballs, basketballs, etc. See pics below) and the school has now been accepted in a government program that has committed to building them a basketball court/PE area this year)
- Drinking fountains (August 2025: Still needed)
- School supplies ( we were able to give out 40 complete schools lists for the kids that needed it the most from each classroom). August 2025: We have continued to support students with school supplies each year.

Basketball hoops & PE supplies bought and delivered:
New cement in recess area, 6 new benches & restored tables:
More cleaning supplies bought and delivered + fumigations done in the entire school to prevent rodents, snakes, spiders, scorpions, etc. every 3 months:
We were able to obtain a grant from the Federal government to install a new shade/rain canopy:
With the support of Home Depot and our group of friends we were able to paint many walls, fix school desks and restore several areas (plus make it a little happier and brighter :)
We brought to the attention of the local government that the school access roads (which were dirt roads) were in terrible condition, and they have now been paved by the government:
After many attempts to get help from the government, finally in June 2025 the local government of Zapopan approved this school to be part of a program called ¨Jalisco con Estrella¨ and ¨Escuela con Estrella¨ : )
They have committed to doing the necessary modifications, construction and additions to make this school even safer and to give them a decent place to practice physical education. They have already started to work on this project in July 2025 and continue to do so.
