Elekta Foundation Charity Cycle Challenge - London to Amsterdam "Ride for Rwanda", 14th - 17th September 2023 - Veenendaal Cyclists

Ride for Rwanda is raising funds for community-based care in rural villages of the Gicumbi district where the Elekta Foundation has been implementing a campaign for cervical cancer prevention and treatment since September 2022. This donation is to support the 12 cyclists from the Elekta Veenendaal office (out of 40 total), who will first travel to London to then ride back to Amsterdam!

The money will be used to care for patients with advanced stages of cancer, relieving suffering of any kind, including pain, other physical and psychological symptoms as well as social distress.

With this campaign, we aim to help women add life to their days, not just days to their life.

Cancer is a leading cause of death in underserved countries, where access to quality healthcare is limited and resources are scarce. Patients in these regions often do not receive the necessary screening and treatment, leading to poor health outcomes. This issue is compounded by the lack of funds available to tackle the problem, making it difficult to provide life-saving care to those in need.

The Elekta Foundation is a philanthropic organization inaugurated on 4th February 2022. Since then, it has made great strides in its mission to improve cancer care access in underserved countries such as Rwanda.
