Electricity Feed Line Storm Repair for Carl Pratt

Donation protected
Carl Pratt's family farm was severely damaged over Labor Day weekend.  A tornado-like microburst storm caused more than 120 trees to come crashing down on his land, along with the power poles, lines, and various transformers and equipment from the area's electric right of way, which runs through his property.

Carl works full-time for the area school district, running the kitchens for both the local elementary school, and the area's combination junior/senior high school.  His family has lived on and worked their farm for three generations, and have been active members of the community for all of that time.  His grandfather was a local mayor, his grandmother and his mother both worked at a local elementary school until retirement, and his great-uncle originally settled the family land and built the original family homestead alongside Sam Owen.

The fallen trees and miscellaneous poles and equipment from the power lines devastated his farm, damaging his animals' shelters and his farm equipment, in addition to various vehicles and his lumber shop's equipment and tools.

While the structure of his home actually escaped much of the damage, he is likely to be without power or water for several months.  The electric company had secured the feeder line for his home to a nearby tree, and when that tree bent to the ground in the storm, it ripped his electric feed out of the house.  As his well uses an electric pump, he currently has neither power nor water, and the cost of repairing that line is outside his budget until his homeowner's insurance comes through.

While the electric company has repaired the area's power supply, they do not perform repairs to individual supply lines.  However, due to the way the feeder line was secured to the tree, the insurance company plans to sue the power company for the cost of repairs to the electrical line for Carl's property, which leaves Carl waiting for that case to be filed and resolved before he can afford to begin the repair, and regain electric and water supplies to his land and home.  That means he'll be well into winter weather, in north Idaho, unable to water his animals, and himself living with no power or water.

The purpose of this fundraising campaign is to pay for the repairs to the electric supply line for Carl's house and land.  Reinstating his electrical supply will enable him to use the tools needed to repair his outbuildings and animal shelters, and will allow him to care for his animals by again providing him with a water supply.

If you are able to pitch in, or willing to share this link, I'd be so grateful. I've been dating Carl for ten years, and known him since he was seven years old. He doesn't ask for help like this, but I'm doing so because I feel helpless as I see him struggling to handle even the most basic of his farm's needs, while he's full of heartache over the damage to his land - land he cherishes for its history, and its ties to his family and the memories it holds of those he's lost.  He never complains, he just does what needs to be done next, and is decent and kind and always helps anywhere he sees a need.  But this time, the need is his, and he'll never ask.  So I am.  Thanks for taking the time to read this.
