Electric supply:Dream Elementary School in Zambia

Hi everyone, myself and my friend Hollie Pritchard have decided to volunteer with the company IVHQ in Livingstone, Zambia, spending time as both Medical/Nursing volunteers, as well as Kindergarten volunteers within primary and pre-schools. Our travel expenses and accommodation have already been self-funded. However, after contacting the school & hospital which we are volunteering in they have expressed they are currently in great need of educational stationary, as well as basic medical supplies such as gloves, bandages and plasters. The school have also informed us that they unfortunately do not have any electricity supply in the classrooms therefore can't use any electronic teaching equipment. 55% of schools in Zambia currently have no source of power, reducing the hours of learning children have and the quality of the education which they receive. The benefits of putting electricity into schools will hugely benefit both the school and the wider community. These benefits include allowing for extended schooling hours, higher quality of education due to enhanced resources and improved learning of technical & vocational subjects, better sanitation, health knowledge and better working conditions for teachers which in turn enhances staff retention (Information from The Lusaka Times, 2022). Our aspiration is to raise enough money to be able to fund an electricity supply to Dream Elementary School in Zambia, as well as sending out as many essential basic supplies to the school and hospital prior to our volunteer work commencing in mid-August. Alongside this page, myself, Hollie and our families will be working hard within our local communities to fundraise through bake sales and car boot sales etc to raise further funds towards this amazing cause. I hope you will all help us to raise as much money as possible towards this goal as I believe it will make such a huge difference to the children's education and health in Livingstone.All donations no matter how small are greatly appreciated and will make a significant difference to Dream Livingstone Elementary school and the Clinics/Hospitals in Zambia.
