Eldwin Yballa's Standing Wheelchair

Donation protected
Hello Fam & thank you for taking the time to check out our campaign!  Our family's purpose for this campaign is to raise funds for a Leo II Standing Wheelchair for our paraplegic brother-in-law, Eldwin Yballa .

Eldwin is the husband of Apryl Casuga and father of two beautiful daughters Kyree & Davyn who are now 8 & 13.  He is also a beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle, friend & mentor to many.

Prior to his disability he worked full time to provide for his family & was also taking online college classes to further his career.  Eldwin lived a very active lifestyle as he also volunteered as a karate instructor for Black Dragon Kenpo teaching self-defense classes mainly to kids & teens, including his oldest daughter, nieces & nephews.

At the age of 26, just 3 months after his second daughter was born, he became paralyzed from the chest down, suffering from severe spinal injuries from a devastating car accident on his way to work in June 2008.  After undergoing multiple recovery treatments, surgeries, long-term hospital stays, physical therapy, & enduring the stresses of adjusting to a new way of life, his spirit has not broken.

With the extensive medical costs accrued over time, insurance was not able to cover a majority of the expenses.  Thankfully, he received endless support from family & friends who contributed their time to help him in other aspects.  Whether it be through a prayer, donated medical supplies, a home-made standing frame, ramp installations to ease accessibility, or simply time spent with he & his family to provide emotional support.

Despite the years of daily physical & emotional struggles of his disability, Eldwin was determined to prove his independence.  He returned to teaching karate & even took on a part-time job.
However, from the constant sitting from being confined to a wheelchair, he was unable to fully work or teach & eventually developed pressure sores.  With more surgeries, Eldwin was ordered to intermittent bed rest until the wounds healed.

With the constant support from his wife & two young daughters, he keeps on pushing to maintain a positive & humble lifestyle for his family.  He does not allow his disability to define him.  His modesty has proven to be his greatest virtue.  He remains hopeful even to this day, to regain his ability to stand & walk again.

Just recently, Eldwin was referred to Fitness Rock, a gym in Sacramento, Ca where he was introduced to the Leo II Standing Wheelchair.  After trying out the chair & seeing how easily maneuverable it was, it was truely an answer to our prayers.

Yet again, medical insurance does not cover the cost of the chair.  This is why we'd like to kindly ask your help in raising the money for Eldwin.  The benefits of this wheelchair are immeasurable & will truly be a change for the better in his healing process.  For those who know Eldwin personally, I'm confident you'll agree that he more than deserves this wheelchair.  For those that don't know him personally, I only hope that my story told through this campaign does him justice.

Our family thanks you again for your time & all donations, prayers, & kind thoughts are greatly appreciated!!

Have a blessed day!
