Our elderly friend, Roger Snodgrass, needs help!

Roger is a dear friend of ours whom we have known for 20+ yrs. He lost his room in the home he shared with his extended family in CA when they all moved four months ago. That situation left Roger with no other options and homeless. My husband Greg and I have a home here in Albuquerque and have had friends live with us off and on throughout the 20 yrs we have lived here. So, we had Roger come and live with us until he found a more permanent place to live.

Roger has survived cancer, but is disabled and cannot walk much at all. He has very bad circulation in his legs and feet, with them painfully swollen. He is a very brave soul, with a lot of perseverance and determination. However, our home has steps up and down, making it very difficult for him, but he perseveres.

Roger has now found a shared apartment in a senior living center here in Albuquerque where he will be surrounded by others his age, have meals prepared for him and have a place to call home! However, he is in dire need of furnishings, used or new, and help to pay his rent. He is going to be short about $300/month. His social security and tiny pension do not cover it completely, but this was the best choice in a place for him to live that provides the care he needs. We have also applied to the state for help with his rent, but that program is closed now.

Roger is a former newspaper editor, author of screenplays and documentaries, and a great conversationalist. We will miss him here but are very happy he will have a place to call his own home.

We operate a small non-profit organization out of our home and the room he is living in is usually used for housing interns or staff. And the desk, computer, etc he uses is for staff. We cannot offer anything permanent.

Please consider helping Roger in any amount you can. We will check back in and post photos of his apartment when he is able to move there. We first need to get it furnished.
