Every student deserves the chance to experience at least one field trip during elementary school. 91% of our sixth graders at Elder Creek Elementary have never attended a single field trip throughout their entire time in school. According to the National Education Association, field trips are essential for fostering holistic development, strengthening academic learning through hands-on experiences, and supporting students’ physical and mental well-being.
We want to provide this meaningful opportunity for our students by taking them to the Effie Yeaw Nature Center. However, we are unable to afford the transportation costs. Busing for 114 students will cost approximately $2,000, an amount that is currently beyond our reach. 87% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and our school is a Title I school, meaning many of our families face significant financial challenges.
For nearly all 114 of our sixth graders, this would be their very first field trip and would give our students the invaluable opportunity to explore and learn beyond their neighborhood. These students represent our future. The more meaningful experiences we can provide now, the more confident, curious, and capable they will become.
We respectfully ask for your support in helping our motivated and enthusiastic scholars broaden their horizons and bring their classroom learning to life. Your generosity will make a lasting and meaningful impact on their education and their future.
