Stem Cell Transplant Epilepsy
We are raising money to send our beloved Ian to Israel to recieve a stem cell treatment to help cure his epilepsy. It is the only treatment available for people with epilepsy, other than medication (which is clearly not working for him). The treatment in Israel requires two trips there and possible a third trip in a years time. This treatment is not available in the United States yet. During the first trip the doctor extracts cells from Ians bone marrow. Ian returns again in two months when the stem cells have multiplied to an appropriate number. He will then be re injected with the stem cells. Half the stem cells will be reserved for Ian furture visits as Dr. Shimon Slavin is working on new treatments.
Ian's story
Ian has been suffering from epliepsy, a seizure disorder for over 17 years now.
He has grand mal seizures, which can be life threatening and can occur with no notice. His seizures are not under control from the high doses of medication he has take daily. These medications have serious side effects that adversely effect his everyday life.
The uncontrollable grand mal seizures render him disabled. He is unable to work because he cannot legally drive due to his illness and when he has a seizure he is out for at least a four days.
The seizures cause head injuries, dislocated shoulders, and injuries to his back, legs, and face.
Please help us raise the money to be able to give him hope for a second chance at life with the stem cell treatment.
