I'm really excited to share that I'm scheduled to have top surgery with Dr. Jeffrey Kyllo in October! This is something I’ve known I wanted for the last couple of years. Being in community with other non-binary people and seeing that physical transition is something I’m allowed to want has been really life-changing for me. I’ve been on testosterone since last year and am having so much euphoria from the way that my body has changed so far. I’m really excited for this next step in my transition.
I am extremely privileged to have a supportive workplace and to have health insurance through that workplace that is covering most of the cost of this procedure. That having been said, the portion I am responsible for is still a large sum for me. Contributions from family and friends would make a huge difference.
The $4000 goal of this campaign will cover my out-of-pocket medical costs, as well as prescriptions and a few items (like a back pillow and a couple of shirts with front closures) that will make recovery go more smoothly.
I know this is a hard time for a lot of people. If you’re able to contribute anything, it would make a huge difference for me. If that’s not doable for you right now, please know that that’s ok too!
If you’re in the Seattle area and might be willing to bring by some food or groceries during the first few weeks after surgery, let me know! We’ll be setting up some kind of meal train schedule to take the burden off my partner, who will be my caregiver during recovery, and I’ll share that link out as soon as it’s ready to go.
Thank you for your support!
With love,
Elan
