Hi, my name is Elaine and I'm asking for help to pay for my next surgery. In Jan 2025 I had a double Mastectomy. Sometimes after a mastectomy, one is left with "Dog Ears". Nice name, right? Dog Ears are mounds of tissue under the armpits (like mine) or along one's sides, at the end of the surgical incision. They can also be quite uncomfortable. Because they are common, I knew I might need revision surgery. Well, the time has come, and so why am I asking for help when we have universal healthcare? It turns out revisions are only covered if I had chosen breast reconstruction. For a few reasons, I chose to go with a 'flat closure' instead of implants. Implants meant more surgeries, possibly more complications, and I just wanted it over with.
My revision surgery will have 2 portions, liposuction, then excision of the dog ears. The government will only pay for the excision portion, even though the liposuction is a crucial part of the surgery. The hospital (Toronto General) also asks for a fee which is not covered. The liposuction portion is $2542.50 and the fee for the hospital is $904.00. This is why I am asking for help with the total of $3446.50. I know the economy is not great, and we are at a slow time of year for most businesses, but if you are able to help me get this surgery, I would be so grateful!
I'm updating my goal amount because I had a couple donations through etransfer!
