Elaine Naughton's Medical Fund

update from Elaine Naughton 1/23/2024:

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your generous contributions for helping me with my medical expenses. The last few months have been really tough as I’ve struggled to get by after my hospitalization. I feel so blessed that so many people came together to support me and my family when we needed it most. My physical recovery has been slow and costly- one step at a time, but thanks to your donation, I should have all the expenses paid within a few months! Thank you for playing such a big part in my financial recovery. We truly can’t thank you all enough!

We are Elaine's cousins writing on behalf of the Naughton family to help them raise money for Elaine's medical bills.

From Elaine's Instagram post on December 8th:
"...on November 10th, I told Chris to "call 911, I'm not going to make it" due to an asthma attack I was unable to control. Upon arrival of the ambulance, I was unresponsive and rushed to the nearest hospital, Orange Coast Memorial, in Fountain Valley. I went into cardiogenic shock and septic shock. My heart was only functioning at EF 25%-30% thus had an impella (heart pump) placed for left ventricular support. I had acute kidney injury with acute tubular necrosis due to hypertension, with severe acidosis and lactic acidosis. My tissues were deprived of oxygen and ultimately had acute asthma exacerbation. Pneumonia was present, and my liver started to fail due to shock liver eosinophilia. I was intubated for hypoxia and respiratory distress for 7 days, where I also had cerebrovascular accident (CVA) due to embolism. Embolic stroke occurs when a blood clot forms elsewhere in the body breaks loose and travel to the brain via the bloodstream. With prayers from loved ones, I miraculously pulled through and was extubated on the 17th of November."

Elaine was in the hospital for 19 days and acute rehabilitation hospital for 14 days. While in the ICU she was on 24-hour dialysis and when she was discharged, had to do dialysis 3x a week for 10 weeks. On Christmas day, Elaine was admitted to the hospital again due to complications and had to stay there for 4 days.

Also, while Elaine was in and out of the hospital, they were told they would need to move out of their home of more than 15 years because the building owner wanted to renovate the building.

It has been an overwhelming and stressful time, to say the least, for Elaine, Chris, Kaiya and Kainoa. We started this fundraiser to try and help alleviate, not only the financial stress, but the emotional stress of going through this experience too. We want to show them this isn't a hardship they have to face alone and that there is a community that loves and wants to support them.

As of January 18th, Elaine is officially off dialysis and feeling a little stronger each day.

The funds raised will help cover medical bills for cardiology, nephrology, pulmonary, dialysis treatment, radiology, ambulance, and rehabilitation. Rehabilitation includes physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and cardiac rehab.

Thank you in advance for your support.
