Growing up in Hoopa I’ve found many reasons why I put forth my education for this to become my career. Hoopa does not have services to keep our animals safe and healthy. An Animal Hospital/Shelter is beneficial for the following reasons:
(1) It reduces the amount of stray animals in the community, (2) the community would no longer need to travel and commute in order to receive help, and (3) it would provide a safe space for Tribal members to receive therapeutic interventions by using pet therapy and other services.
Currently I am struggling to find resources to fund my housing. I live in the dorms, however my financial aid does not cover the full cost which is jeopardizing my opportunity to stay. I have become passionate in ensuring that my community has the resources they need to keep their animals safe and healthy, which is why I need help to raise money so I can stay.
