Elaina was born in 2014 with a rare syndrome called Caudal Regression Syndrome. This syndrome can occur 1 in every 200 thousand people . In Elaina case unfortunately she was born with one of the most serve cases of Caudal Regression. Elaina spine stops L2 which effects her kidneys, bladder, and lower extremities. This left her with 1 kidney , a neurogenic bladder, malrotaion, .and other health issues.
In Aug 2018 Elaina only functioning kidney failed. We were medflighted to UVA medical center where she had to have emergency PD dialysis surgery. We have been doing PD at home for the past three years while looking for a kidney donation. This past January ( 2022 ) we got the news of a possible match.
Elaina kidney transplant will happen in Pittsburgh Pa and we are told we will be staying over a month due to her anatomy and syndrome.
We are hoping to raise enough money to help ease the financial burdens this may cause while my husband will be out of work. Being a family of 5 we are unsure just how much things will cost in Pittsburgh Pa. Please keep us in your prayers during this exciting but scary time. Pray Elaina surgery goes smoothly.
