And so my story begins...
On May 11th, I was taken to the ER for swollen lymph nodes and a pale appearance after being sent there by my doctor. I waited about 3 hours and was finally able to get a room in the oncology and bone marrow transplant unit. I had already received one blood transfusion and was set for another one overnight because my blood was sick and the doctor said my heart was working overtime.
I had a procedure done where the doctors took a sample of my bone marrow on Saturday, May 12th, and the doctors told my mom and Mimo I had cancer on Monday, May 14th...the day after Mother’s Day. Mom says I have Precursor B Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL).
I stayed in the hospital12 days and was put to sleep 2 more times so that putting the button in my chest or poking my spine again wouldn’t hurt. I finally got to go home, but I still have a 3 year cancer battle I have to get through. My mom says I’ll need about 21 spinal taps in total for my treatment, and have to be put to sleep each time. I’ve told my mom I’m a little scared, but feel brave and patient when I know she’s near me.
To top it all off, I have to travel back and forth between houses, which means being away from my mom. The stress on my mom when I’m gone is hard for her, and I miss my brother so, so much when I’m not at home with them. Right now, my brother isn't able to come with me to my dad's. It’s just us three at my moms, and I know it’s going to be a tough road ahead. So, I’m asking that you please help in any way you can.
