On the night of November 20th, I found my dad collapsed on the floor after an apparent stroke. I rushed him to the hospital, where he was able to receive life-saving surgery, but the road to a full recovery will be long and demanding. My dad is the embodiment of the American Dream—he came to this country with just the clothes on his back and built his business, "La Cocina del Tio Mon," from the ground up, becoming a pillar of the Rockwall community in the process. He worked long hours to put me and my two siblings through college while simultaneously supporting his family back in Mexico and all the while having an active music career on the side. Anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting my father can attest to his compassion and willingness to put others' needs before his own. He has always had an incredible amount of patience when caring for his family, and has always told us that money is no object when it comes to our well-being, so we want to treat him with the same care.

Our dad is currently in an inpatient rehabilitation hospital partially covered by his insurance, but the level of care is not to our standards, and certainly not what he deserves. We are asking for your support in helping find him a facility that meets his needs, as well as funding the required care for when we have him back home.

We want to have our dad back home for Christmas. We want to see him at his restaurant, making people smile with his food and lively attitude. We want things to be normal again, and with your help we will hopefully get there.
