Hola a todos!!

As many of you know, I’ve been studying abroad in Uruguay this year—and it’s been everything I hoped for and more. The biggest reason? My host family. They’ve become my world and home away from home: two amazing siblings, a hilarious dad, and a powerhouse of a mom, Dary.

Today, I’m launching this GoFundMe to support Dary’s new business, El Silletero. It’s a vibrant celebration of Colombian cuisine, with her signature buñuelos (fried cheese balls that are honestly addictive) at the center. But this isn’t just about delicious food—it’s about a woman with vision, grit, and unstoppable drive.

Right now, El Silletero operates out of her home kitchen and at local ferias (street markets), where she sets up a stand and brings the flavors of Colombia to the heart of Uruguay. Her dream is to one day open a physical location—a space where people can gather, eat, and experience Colombian culture in full. I believe she’ll get there, and I want to help her take the next step.

Dary is a natural entrepreneur. She’s built businesses before, and she’s currently studying psychology at university, taking courses in entrepreneurship, while also working in catering and raising three nearly-grown kids. Her days are packed, but her energy is contagious. She pours creativity, love, and hustle into everything she does—and El Silletero is no exception.

What makes this business even more special is the way it builds community. Through food, Dary is sharing Colombian culture in Uruguay—introducing traditions, flavors, and stories that spark connection and curiosity.
