El Porter Deri Tyton - Dad-in & Son-in Movie

HOW IT BEGAN
It all started with weekly phone conversations between two fathers experiencing the inevitable growth spurt of our children's independence. Although we yearned for those days, we latched on to each other like a mini-support group to discuss our hopes, experiences, and dreams as well as our heartbreak, disappointments, and failures as fathers.
Two Screenwriters sobbing over our children growing up rapidly turned into jokes, as we began making light of our frustration. Between the laughter, two characters were formed as we both started seeing our lives as a movie. A COMEDY. Because what we were experiencing was pure comedy! We took the idea to our producer friend, Susan Reed. She told us we had to do it, and she would help us produce it.
So, we decided we would write, direct, and produce a movie together. The name that revealed itself in between laughs and snorting from laughing, Dad'in' & Son'in', the redemptive story of a father and son.
LOGLINE
Youtube rapper career catches fire with his hard-hitting street lyrics stolen from his dad's persona. With record execs circling, the son's mom wants the dad to advise the son to be himself, but the son and dad have crazier ideas in store for each other.
SNAPSHOT OF HERO
Cisco is a bonafide nut. He cares a lot. Sentimental. Impressionable. Risquè. Unlikeable. Uncultured. He's crazy about his family. Since he can't force a relationship with his son, his other goal is to find his father's stolen 1985 Chicago Bears Superbowl ring.
What Is Dad'in'?
Dad'in' is the action a man takes to raise a child/children by any means necessary.
What is Son'in'?
Son'in' is a boy's action in response to being raised by his father.
WHY Dad'in' & Son'in'?
We decided to do this film independently. Why? Because we wanted to tell a relatable story that would connect to our core audience, Black people. We also wanted to tell a universal story about fatherhood and the redeeming qualities it takes to be a father.
There are no books given on how to raise our children specifically. We do it by trial and error, anecdotes we find along the way, and hope the personal relationships with our fathers are enough to develop a less challenging fatherhood.
WE NEED YOU!
We are asking you to donate, sponsor and partner with us to produce the comedy, Dad'in' & Son'in' in the summer of 2022. We are currently in the pre-production stages and have covered much ground.
GOALS
Our goal is to raise $200,000 and to do that; we're going to have to do it $1 at a time. The funds we raise will be used to pay:
- Cast, which allows us to hire professional actors
- Crew, which allows us to increase our production value
- Locations, which allows us to get real places and not use momma and dem house.
- Acquire Permits, which allows us to be in accordance with city laws
- Craft Services, which allows us to feed the people some of that good ole Chicago food
- Marketing, which allows us to increase our distribution possibilities
Any donation you might be able to give will be hugely appreciated and will go a long way to making this film a reality and making it as good as it can be.
