El Monito started as a vision.
A vision to create something simple but powerful. A space where people feel welcome, seen, and part of something.
I’m Jordy Rankine, born and raised in the Cayman Islands, where community isn’t something you search for. It’s something you live inside of.
I was raised not just by my parents but by neighbors, aunties, uncles, and the people around me. That sense of being supported and connected shaped everything I do.
When I moved away, I realized how rare that feeling can be. So many places are missing a space where you can simply show up and belong.
That’s what El Monito became.
Not just coffee.
Coffee is just the entry point.
What we’ve built over the past year is something real. People stay longer than they planned. Conversations happen naturally. Familiar faces keep coming back. And the question we hear the most is
“How can we experience this more often?”
This is our answer.
We’re building El Monito’s next step. A second-generation trailer that allows us to bring this experience into more spaces, more neighborhoods, and more moments where people gather.
A fully equipped mobile café designed to carry the same warmth, care, and intention wherever we go.
We’ve already secured the trailer. Now we’re focused on getting it fully operational and on the road.
Why We’re Asking for Support
We’re raising $15,000 to complete this next step.
These funds will go directly toward:
- Finalizing the trailer setup
- Power, equipment, and operational systems
- Getting fully ready for events and pop-ups
We’ve already invested heavily into this ourselves, and now we’re inviting the community that helped shape El Monito to be part of what comes next.
Why It Matters
This is more than just coffee.
- It’s a space that creates connection.
- A place that slows people down, even if just for a few minutes.
- A reminder of what community can feel like.
How You Can Be Part of It
- Contribute if you’re able
- Share this with someone who believes in community
- Come visit us when the trailer hits the road
Everyone who supports this project will be invited to celebrate with us at our first public pop-up, and like most times, coffee will absolutely be on us!
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for believing in this vision and for continuing to show up for El Monito.
We can’t wait to continue growing together.
With gratitude,
Jordy & the El Monito Café family
