Leighton was diagnosed with hemivertebrae when Lacey and Chris were 18 wks along in pregnancy  and when she was born, she was diagnosed with a heart defect as well. They have been going to specialists since she was three months old. She had to have physical therapy just to learn how to roll over! Leighton, being four now,  has been living a healthy life until recently.  Her spine has progressed and her parents have been waiting to schedule surgery for that, when suddenly the McCaffertys' found themselves landed in the ER.  Patiently awaiting answers from Leightons Cardiologist, Leighton loosing weight.. not eating and aside from her normal firecracker self,  this heart stuff has been happening which has prompted her heart surgery to be pushed up by months. She will be staying in ICU for 4 to 5 days and then we will go for follow ups.

Chris (her father) is in the marine corps, who has served his country for 8 years! He had to take emergency leave from Afghanistan for her high risk birth. He wasn't able to be home for the birth of their second child, a precious baby boy. Being away from so many importnat things. His blood sweat and tears have been given to and for his family. Lacey has a small bussiness of incredible rustic treassures that will be put on hold.  They have been living off of one paycheck and making ends meet as would any family. Being now they will have to travel so much to sudden appointments and now unexpected surgeries, and going so far and for Leighton's many apppintments. Sadly, they will be going through this again when it's time for her spinal surgery. They have insurance but will have to cover all of what Chris' insurance doesn't. Along with food, lodging and fuel. My heart breaks as a parent for this family. 


The power of prayers is unreal, and the love and support this family has, is truly touching. By the grace of God, I am reaching out to help this family, please help me.. help them!
