Help Us Share the Story of the World’s Oldest Basketball Court
Hi! We are 7th Van Productions, a fourth-year Sport Media student-led practicum group at Toronto Metropolitan University. We’re producing a documentary about a hidden gem in Canadian sports history: the World’s Oldest Basketball Court in St. Stephen, New Brunswick.
This court has a remarkable history and was rediscovered in 2010 after a fire. Since then, a dedicated group of citizens has been working tirelessly to transform this forgotten space into a state-of-the-art museum for Canadian basketball.
What Our Documentary Will Explore
The Past: The early history of the court and its rediscovery after the 2010 fire.
The Present: The plans for the museum and the many challenges that come with turning a dream into reality.
The Future: How this project could impact St. Stephen and its community of 4,000, as well as Canadian basketball as a whole.
Basketball has profound roots in Canada, and this story is a vital part of that legacy. Revitalizing this court won’t just preserve history, it will grow Canadian basketball and breathe new life into a small town with big dreams.
How You Can Help
We are aiming to raise $3,000 to cover:
- Travel to St. Stephen
- Accommodations
- Food
- Other production expenses
Any donation, big or small, will go a long way into making this production possible!
We’re passionate about bringing this project to life, and with your help, we can shine a spotlight on a piece of Canadian basketball history.
Thank you for your support!
