Mental Health Support
Can you imagine what it’s like to feel like you are the only one who struggles with their Mental Health?
Having a mental health condition can make people feel like they’re ‘not normal’. It can make people feel worthless, anxious, depressed, lonely, and like they are not in control of their own thoughts. Its really not a good way to be feeling.
Mental health problems can happen to any one of us at any time. Many people can feel like they are the only ones going through a difficult time, which can be really isolating for them. Imagine if there was somewhere you could go that understood all of this and wanted to help? That’s why Sunderland Headlight exists; to support people and let them know they don’t have to battle their problems alone. We are there for people on their good days and their not so good days too. We know with Mental Health there are no quick fixes, however; with understanding, support, and listening, things can feel a whole lot lighter.
We may be a small mental health charity, but the difference we make is huge. Over the last twenty-three years, we have created a welcoming atmosphere where people feel that they matter. Because of all we do at Headlight, people have found a place to belong.
It is important to us all to raise more awareness about the reality of having a mental health condition, whilst describing the positive difference our charity offers. So, together with our service users, we created a short animation which explains better than any words can, that Mental Health can affect “Any one of us”. Please take a couple of minutes to watch this animation:
Sadly, the need for mental health support will probably never disappear. As a charity we have the challenge of always needing to raise funds to continue providing this much needed help and support. Any donation received will make a huge difference to us as a small charity, as it means 100% of your donation supports local people directly. Your generosity will go a long way towards ensuring that we are here for those affected by their Mental Health in Sunderland and providing them with the support and understanding they need.
