Hallo ihr Lieben,

Jamaica ist in der letzten Woche vom schwersten Hurricane verwüstet worden, der die Insel seit Anfang der Wetteraufzeichnungen getroffen hat. Unsere Familie lebt in einer Community, die genau in der Schneise des Sturms lag. Zum Glück geht es allen körperlich gut, was für uns die größte Erleichterung ist, aber ihr Haus wurde fast vollkommen zerstört. Es stehen noch zwei Räume, Türen, Teile der Wände, und das komplette Dach wurden weggerissen. Alles darin ist entweder vernichtet oder weg. Es ist verheerend, und Versicherungen für solche Fälle gibt es nicht.

Der Wiederaufbau ist eine Mammutaufgabe und nur mit Unterstützung zu schaffen. Darum bitten wir euch. Jeder Beitrag hilft, damit unsere Eltern und Geschwister, Nichten und Neffen ihr Zuhause wieder aufbauen können.

Hello everyone,

Jamaica was devastated last week by the most severe hurricane to hit the island since the beginning of weather records.

Our family’s community was directly in the storm’s path. To our enormous relief, everyone is physically okay, but their house was almost completely destroyed. Only two rooms remain. The entire roof, doors, and large parts of the walls were torn away. Everything inside is either damaged beyond use or gone. It is devastating, and there is no insurance to cover losses of this kind.

Rebuilding is a huge challenge and cannot be done without support. Every contribution will make a difference in helping our parents, siblings, nieces, and nephews rebuild their home.

I will be overseeing the withdrawals myself alongside my Mother-in-Law to whom the the bank account belongs. The account was created solely for this purpose and is under the control of the both of us.

I will also be responsible for management of the funds and organising the procurement of necessities. I am the gathering money for my family, so my parents, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.

The money will mainly be used for supplies. My family lost their house during the storm and the money will be used to fund the rebuilding process. This includes buying the necessary materials needed as well paying the professionals required for the rebuild.

I currently reside in Germany as a student studying Civil Engineering. In March i will be flying to Jamaica where my family resides, in order to handle the procurement of materials personally as well as to aid with the rebuilding process.
