Whelp, here we are, starting a GoFundMe, that no one ever hopes to start.

Back in September, Barb started to have some discomfort in her tongue and then she also started to be really sensitive to spice. This started the journey of doctor visits in Chico, Davis, and Stanford. that have led to where we find ourselves today. We have more answers than when we started with, and yet we still don't know half of it.

Long story, not as long, Barb has cancer. At this point, we know it's in her tongue and lymph nodes. Barb has another test (PET scan) coming up that will give us a better understanding of the type of cancer and its severity. She will be getting the tumor in her tongue removed on October 25th. The surgery on her tongue will be removing half-ish of Barb's tongue and rebuilding it. This will leave Barb unable to speak for a while and needs a speech pathologist to help her learn how to use her new tongue. Anyone that knows Barb, knows that not talking is not something that will be easy for Barb. After the surgery, the plan is for Barb to do 30 days of radiation. So, yea, cancer SUCKS, this we know. For now, we will be keeping our hopes HIGH, holding each other extra close, and finding new ways for Barb to communicate after her October 25th surgery.
