Hello, my name is Deniz.

My daughter, Ekin, was born with a congenital heart disease. She bravely went through her first surgery at just one month old, and her second on July 17, 2023, when she was 23 months old. The surgery was successful, and her heart condition was resolved.

But heartbreakingly, it wasn’t her heart disease that changed her life — it was what happened afterward in the ICU. During her recovery, due to negligence in her care, Ekin woke up while intubated and accidentally pulled out her breathing tube. This caused cardiac arrest and severe oxygen loss to her brain, leading to hypoxic-ischemic brain injury. She was later diagnosed with cerebral palsy.

After spending 3.5 months in the hospital, Ekin came home with a tracheostomy and feeding tube, having lost all her abilities — speaking, sitting, walking, even communicating.

Since then, we have fought every day to give her a chance at recovery. With intensive physiotherapy, 8 stem cell treatments, and 40 hyperbaric oxygen sessions, she has already shown progress:

My husband and I had to close our businesses to care for her full-time. We managed with our savings and the support of family and friends, but now our resources are exhausted. Ekin’s therapies are lifelong, and without help, we cannot continue giving her the treatment she urgently needs.
