This is my Ed. I love him very much.
As the photo suggests, he's had some health issues lately, and we're having trouble paying for it.
Last year, Ed had what is called a Vasovagal Syncope, a sudden drop in blood pressure. It was sudden and scary enough to call an ambulance. After 24 hours in the hospital, we learned it wasn't as serious as it seemed. We were left with an ambulance bill and a hospital bill that left us struggling, though we thought we could handle it.
Recently though, Ed had to return to the hospital, this time for a bleeding intestinal ulcer. He wasn't feeling well, and I persuaded him to call his doctor, who told him to go to the hospital. He could have died. He lost a third of his blood volume, and he's still recovering. It seems it was partly caused by the arthritis medication he was taking.
We are both gig workers, and Ed has two careers, as a piano technician and a local actor. He doesn't make enough to be able to afford market health insurance, and he makes too much to qualify for alternatives. For a piano technician, who is constantly using arthritic joints to yank piano strings into behaving, the latest episode was a double strike for him. Not only has this left him temporarily weakend due to the blood loss, tuning is sometimes much more painful for him now without the arthritis medication.
Asking for help is hard for us. I can not imagine life without Ed. We've been together for 8 years, and he is the love of my life, and I don't want to hesitate to get him care when he needs it. We're both near 60, and Ed's 60th birthday is next month. We are trying to build a life together, and we believe we are building better every day. However, we have a mortgage, and there's been less work for both of us through the pandemic. These bills, right at this time, are a terrible setback for us.
I would truly appreciate any help you could please give us to be able to put these bills behind us. This is a humbling experience for us, and we deeply thank you for your help.
