Two Years ago, we woke up to the news, that five promising, talented, beautiful, young adults in Calgary were tragically and brutally taken from their friends and families. It was a random act of violence that ripped through the fabric of our family.
I heard the phone call in disbelief, wait this doesn't happen to us, not to us, the outside world becomes white noise. you're left with a voice in your head asking, Why Kaiti ? Why anyone? Oh no, no, this can't be happening! What about her brother and sisters, her Mom and Dad and Step Mom? What about us? White noise.
The courage and bravery of Kaiti's family in the face of this tradgedy has been unbelievable. Shannon a single mother, is working two jobs and with the trial coming up, will need to take time off work, to attend, and care for, her children and herself, as they are reminded and re-live the tragedy during the course of the trial.
This GOFUNDME is going to provide Shannon with the peace of mind to know, that during the next six weeks, she need only be concerned with her family and her own well being.
The physical, mental and fiscal cost of this tragedy is monuemental and Shannon has shown tremendous grace through this ordeal.
I am asking her friends and family, and my friends and family, and your friends and family, to show their support and love, to help Shannon through what will truly be her and her families greatest challenge.
To quote Nicky, Kaiti's older sister
"Tomorrow will be sad for a lot of people. We can choose to let the sadness take the day or week or month from us... Or we can decide otherwise. The 5 people the world lost two years ago would not want us to be sad or angry. They tried to make everyday a little better than the last. That's my goal for tomorrow. If all that can be mustered is one sincere smile, then that's one more smile put into the world. That's one more smile in our universe than yesterday."
Let us join together to share Shannon's financial burden by contributing to this very brave, grace filled and beautiful woman.
