Hi y'all many of you have met Marley either at the bar or somewhere along the way and if you have I know you have been touched by this little sweetheart. Well she has 2 extended hospital stays this year for different things. The first kept her in the hospital for 4 days in April and when I thought wer were in the clear another issue popped up. Marley has been diagnosed as Diabetic and had a bad reastion to a steroid prescribed before her diabetes diagnosis, I meant a vicious birthday weekend that landed us in the ER on her birthday night, it wasn't our "normal" hospital as they were full. It was a new one and they wanted $5000 to treat Marley, when I said that was outrageous they said well we can do $2500 for overnight care. This again seemed outrageous, they then told me she could die overnight. Anyway, we eneded up treating her and stabilizing her through our normal vet and the previous Hospital. She has since developed ulcerated eyes, and may go blind in one if not both eyes. She has a surgery to save the worse of the 2 eyes and right now treatment seams to be working, but her med bills since April are already over $7000 and the surgery on Wednedsay will be between $4225 and $5500. It been a rough week for us and I am happy to keep my baby healthy and as cute as can be but am stretched thin. Anything helps and if I somehow raise more than I need for Marley and her med bills I will make sure they end up in the hands of someone in a similar situation, either a pug rescue health fund or one of the local Austin pet shelters. Marley has won the hearts of so many, she is our own local celebrity. The number of people that ask about her and recount the times they met her, is kinda remarkable.
