Here at Embrace Gymnastics Performance Academy, gymnastics goes beyond athleticism and sport – we are family!
For us gymnastics is a sport unlike any other. Gymnastics teaches our students to be in control of their bodies, to reach for their dreams, how to fail, how to lead and most importantly how to advocate. It combines grace, strength, flexibility, artistry, athleticism and resilience.
And resilience isn’t to be underestimated, as the road to setting up Embrace GPA proves. Early in 2023, our former club closed its doors unexpectedly, leaving 200 gymnasts without a home. Embrace GPA was set up as a not-for-profit soon after and the new Academy prides itself on being an inclusive environment that will always strive to remove barriers to success.
The tenacity and resilience our coaches and gymnasts have shown have been nothing short of astounding. Sourcing temporary training facilities and new equipment, finding places to store it, kicking on with upgrading skills, entering competitions – the list is endless.
We have been steadily raising money through drawing prizes that have been given to us, kind donations and also early offers of free training facilities have helped the gymnasts to maintain a routine during an uncertain time. We now need to raise £50,000 to make our dreams a reality and be able to provide our gymnasts with a home. This will be a place that will also serve the wider community and give any child that wants, the opportunity to improve their gymnastics skills and fitness.
We are fighting every day to make this dream come true and to raise enough money to secure much-needed equipment and this potential new training facility. We will be continuing to raise funds ourselves through prize draws, awards evenings and a skydive to name just a few things we have planned.
We hope that we can secure the new facility and make it a place that our gymnasts and the gymnasts of the future can call home. A home where everyone, regardless of ability, is truly embraced.
Thank you for reading our story and for any help, no matter how big or small.
