Beating Stage 3 Mouth Cancer

My husband, Christopher was diagnosed with Stage 3 Mouth Cancer in October. We also learned that he has Osteomyelitis in his jaw which is quite advanced. We are in a whirlwind of specialists for him, going to an appointment almost everyday. Each appointment costs us $70. I had to cancel his PET/CT scan, as they are an outside vendor and need $700 up front, that cannot be billed to Kaiser. This week he will have a feeding tube put in his stomach, as he cannot eat without extreme pain. He is 5'10" and weighs 120 lbs. Surgery to remove a large part of his lower jaw, removal of all bottom teeth is next in order to prepare for radiation and chemotherapy. We were given an estimate of $7,000.00 for radiation, to start. Kaiser should cover most everything else. We lost our apartment in Poway and we are now staying in a hotel, with the original plan being to find a new apartment. Now we are putting Chris's battles first and the apartment will have to wait. We have applied and submitted his SSDI and we're hoping that starts quickly. I was diagnosed with Stage 1 Breast Cancer on my last birthday, Ductal Invasive Carcinoma. Lumpectomy and removal of 6 lymph nodes went well and I hopefully will only be looking at radiation and hormone therapy. My road begins the 27th of this month - Right before Thanksgiving and believe me we count our blessings everyday! God is good and has our back, we know and each day we keep going on faith!
