20 years ago this Spring I lost my leg. My name is E.J. Poplawski I am an Above the Knee Amputee. On March 25, 2006, I Lost my Right Leg competing at Crested Butte, CO in the 10th Annual U.S. Telemark Extreme Freeskiing Championships! I woke up 5 days later, and my leg was gone, I had no idea I was going to become and Amputee. The doctors told me that I was "7 Minutes from Dead" when I woke up. I was devastated. My MOM was next to me in the hospital and I remember telling her that "I wish I was dead, what am i going to do now?"
Well I had no idea what I was going to do, I thought it was over. Then I was sent a video of an amputee named Jarem Frye who had designed a prosthetic knee so that he could telemark ski. Not only was he skiing, he was wake boarding, snowboarding, rock climbing and skateboarding! Immediately I knew there was HOPE!!! All I needed was to see what was possible? I needed Inspiration, and boy did I see it on the screen in front.
Right there and then I knew that I had a chance of getting after it again? I instantly had the vision of myself doing everything i just saw. I need your help to share my story with others, inspire Millions, and be able to compete again in adaptive sports and hopefully make it the Paralympics when they come back to Salt Lake City in 2035? I will only be 57 years old, so who knows?
I have written the first draft of my auto-biography about everything I have been through and accomplished. From Amputation, to learning to walk, learning to ski again, and so much more! It will be a tell all book that includes competing at ESPN's Winter X-Games from 2010 to 2020 in Adaptive Snocross and Adaptive Snobikecross. I finally got myself on the podium at X-Games. I won a bronze medal in 2016!!!
I am hoping to have my book out for the 20th anniversary of losing my leg. It has been a ton of work to get this far, but I still have a lot of work to get it from computer to print. I am going to be doing the publishing myself at this point. I know I can get it all done myself it will just cost me some money up front to actually get it printed. With todays technology I will be able to print in small quantities if needed. I am hoping that my videos online will get me a book deal? Hint Hint.
I am looking for a publisher and editor interested in my story. If you know anyone, let me know. In the mean time. . I need your help to get it created. The list of adventures I have been on since losing my leg is out of this world!!
In addition to the above, add getting Hepatitis C from the blood transfusions, paragliding, wake boarding, water skiing, adaptive ski racing, adaptive snowboard racing, snow kiting, sailing, motocross, oh and maybe a bit on my legal issues? Just google me, you will know what I am talking about.
Oh yeah, I am also a Husband and a Father of two amazing children. For over 25 years I have supported myself and my family as a hands on Carpenter, running my construction company "Alpine Desert Construction, LLC". I have had employees since 2007, when I got back to work as a Carpenter, just a year after losing my leg 4 inches above the knee.
This has been a difficult and challenging journey to say the least. Help me out and I promise you will not regret it. The Book will be an adventure you will enjoy! Thanks a bunch! And Thanks for your Interest in my Story!!!! No raffles, sweepstakes, giveaways, or returns on investment are offered in exchange for any donations made to this GoFundMe.

Thank You,
E.J. Poplawski
