Dear Friends and Family,
It's hard to believe that it's time for our girl Eisley to take her 8th Grade Washington D.C. - New York City Trip! What is the 8th Grade Trip? It’s a fun but educational 7-day trip to the East Coast for 8th grade students at San Elijo Middle School and includes all of the following stops:
- The Capitol Building
- The National Mall: Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Veterans, Korean War Memorial
- The Smithsonian Museum
- Arlington National Cemetery: the Kennedy Gravesites, Challenger Memorial and the Changing of the Guard Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
- A dinner cruise on the Potomac River
- Fort McHenry National monument
- Pentagon 9/11 Memorial
- Jefferson Memorial
- Martin Luther King Jr Memorial
- World War II Memorial
- Mt. Vernon
- White House
- National Archives
- Times Square
- Rockefeller Center
- New York Stock Exchange
- 9/11 Memorial
- Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island
- Hamilton play on Broadway
The $4,000 price of the trip includes all of the expenses (airfare, hotels, buses, meals and admission fees for everything they visit, etc...). The trip is organized through Apple Student Tours and they coordinate with 2 teachers at San Elijo Middle School who have facilitated the annual trip for 10 years running, and they also attend as chaperones. Each location and each bus comes with a tour guide that they've worked with for several years and I'm told that the guides make it so much fun for the kids and keep them engaged.
It’s the same trip Leanne did as an 8th grader. At that time, the trip was affiliated with the school, and students had several fundraising opportunities. The trip is no longer associated directly with the school, so each student is on their own for fundraising now.
Eisley is an excellent student and enjoys school. She is excited for the opportunity to explore the East Coast on this jam-packed seven-day trip. Please help us send Eisley on a trip of a lifetime by donating or contacting us directly for an opportunity for her to earn some funds! The trip is in March 2023 and the deadline to make the final payment is Jan 2023. We hope to raise enough funds for Leanne to join the trip as a chaperone.
