Eisenschmied Family - Alex's Fight Against Cancer

Donation protected
Hi,

My name is Melissa Rogers and I am fundraising for my best friend Alex Eisenschmied who was recently diagnosed with testicular cancer.

Dave and Cathie Eisenschmied are reaching out to their community to rally love, prayers, and financial support for their 28-year-old son Alex. Alex is a fourth-year pharmacy student at Presbyterian College School of Pharmacy and is loved by many. He is incredibly smart and has big plans of completing a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency program, with interviews starting next month!

He began his life-altering fight against testicular cancer when he was admitted via ambulance to Greenville Memorial/Prisma Hospital for a pulmonary embolism on January 3rd, 2023. Alex was intubated that afternoon to preserve his airway for two days. Upon scanning his body, a mass was found in the back of his abdomen and his lung. A biopsy was taken from the mass and Alex spent 7 days in the ICU recovering. After being moved outside of the ICU, the biopsy came back inconclusive. The oncology team then decided to scan Alex's pelvic region and discovered testicular cancer. The affected testicle was removed the next day as well as having a central line placed for chemotherapy and Alex was discharged a day later. He spent a total of 12 days in the hospital, leaving with a follow-up appointment with an infusion center for cancer.

When preparing for his journey back home, he was met with barriers to care. He was prescribed medications that are essential to his recovery, with the most important one not covered by his insurance plan. He was able to get a 30-day supply of this medication using a one-in-a-lifetime manufacturer's coupon but will need this medication for the foreseeable future to prevent another pulmonary embolism.

Alex is currently awaiting biopsy results and is bravely staying optimistic through this entire experience. Anyone that knows Alex knows that he cares about others more than himself. He is always the first person to lend a helping hand and always has something positive to say. He has the gift of lighting up a room and a contagious smile!

This time Alex needs our love and support! He needs us to help him fight and stay strong through this unexpected, life-changing situation.

The family is shocked and devastated and is rallying together to gather as much support as possible for Alex during this battle. Please show your love and support for this amazing family to help Alex in his time of need.
