Ein Gemeindezentrum für das Hope Center

Liebe Freunde, Familie und Unterstützer,

wir sind Nick und Niki, zwei Freiwillige, die derzeit ein Jahr in der "Hope Center"-Vorschule auf den Philippinen mithelfen. Die Schule beherbergt etwa 50 Kinder im Alter von drei bis fünf Jahren und spielt eine entscheidende Rolle in ihrem Leben. Wir wenden uns an euch, um eure Unterstützung für ein dringend benötigtes Projekt zu erbitten – den Bau eines Gemeindezentrums.

Der aktuelle Zustand der Vorschule ist nicht optimal. Eines der Klassenzimmer hat sogar erst neulich durch eine großzügige Spende einen betonierten Boden erhalten - davor wurde auf Sandboden unterrichtet.

Das geplante Gemeindezentrum wäre ein erster Schritt in Richtung nachhaltiger Lösungen in der Zukunft. Es wird eine Küche beherbergen, die für das Feeding-Programm (Ein Essens-Projekt für die Kinder) der Schule benötigt wird. Außerdem soll das Zentrum ein kleines Büro beinhalten, welches für die Lehrer und die Planung zukünftiger Projekte, wie dem Bau stabilerer Klassenräume, dienen soll. Im Moment gibt es nämlich kaum Rückzugs- und Arbeitsbereiche für die vier Lehrerinnen und uns Freiwillige.

Zudem soll das Zentrum einen Raum für die Unterbringung von Volunteers wie uns bereitstellen. Derzeit nutzen wir als Zwischenlösung den Nebenraum eines der Klassenräume, das kann allerdings keine langfristige Lösung sein, besonders wenn die Schule zukünftig weitere freiwillige Helfer beherbergen soll.

Eine staatliche oder private Finanzierung ist wegen sehr begrenzten Geldmitteln leider unmöglich. Auch das Unterrichten durch die Lehrkräfte erfolgt hauptsächlich auf gemeinnütziger Basis.

Jeder Beitrag, ob groß oder klein, wird geschätzt und macht einen bedeutenden Unterschied im Leben der Kinder und der Community hier.

Dear friends, family and supporters,

We are Nick and Niki, two volunteers who are currently spending a year helping at the Hope Center preschool in the Philippines. The school is home to around 50 children aged three to five and plays a crucial role in their lives. We are reaching out to you to ask for your support for a much-needed project - the construction of a community center.

The current state of the preschool is not ideal. In fact, one of the classrooms was recently given a concrete floor thanks to a generous donation - before that, lessons were taught on a sand floor.

The planned community center would be a first step towards sustainable solutions in the future. It will house a kitchen, which is needed for the school's feeding program. The center will also include a small office for the teachers and the planning of future projects, such as the construction of more stable classrooms. At the moment, there are hardly any areas for the four teachers and us volunteers to retreat and work.

The center should also provide a room to accommodate volunteers like us. We are currently using the room next to one of the classrooms as an interim solution, but this cannot be a long-term solution, especially if the school accommodates more volunteers in the future.

Unfortunately, state or private funding is impossible due to very limited funds. Teaching by the teachers is also mainly done on a non-profit basis.

Every contribution, big or small, is appreciated and makes a significant difference to the lives of the children and the community here.
