Help Eiley Ruth Overcome SMA

Three weeks ago, Eiley Ruth was born to Austin and Lauren Richards, and she is a beautiful answer to prayer! Shortly after her birth, she was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) — an extremely rare genetic disorder where her body is missing a vital protein called SMN1. Without this protein, her nervous system would rapidly deteriorate permanently lose muscle function.

There is an effective treatment available (Zolgenzma) that would permanently halt the deterioration, praise God! It is a very new and very expensive treatment at $2.1 million.

Miraculously, God has used his people to speed up the insurance process from 3 months to less than 2 weeks, and Eiley has been approved for full coverage of her treatment! The plan is for the treatment to be ordered on February 9th and administered on February 14th.

We know that the Lord is with us and that he is fighting on behalf of this little one and her family. It is impossible to tell you how thankful our families are for everyone who has joined with us in prayer. Lauren and Austin are writing down all the miracles that have happened thus far, and they can’t wait to share the full complete story in the future. We ask for continued prayer as we fight for the full and complete healing for our "Ray of Light."

The support from so many friends and family has been overwhelming on every front! Every prayer, meal, and gift has truly made an impact. Your love helps to sustain the faith and hope in this healing journey.

Continued Prayer Requests:
  • That the SMN 1 and 2 protein would come alive (that is what she is missing)
  • That the strength she does have right now in her lungs, sucking for eating, legs and arms would be sustained and strengthened.
  • That her nerves would not die and the Lord would restore the ones that have.
  • That the Lord would continue to give Lauren and Austin and their families strength as we walk this out, one day at a time.

Due to the circumstances, Austin and Lauren have had to quarantine to ensure Eiley will be healthy enough to receive the treatment. This means that Austin will not be able to work until the treatment is administered. If the Lord is leading you to offer financial support, each and every gift is greatly appreciated!
