Eileen's Fight
Donation protected
Please help a young woman and her family fight cancer together. And, most importantly, have the chance to spend the time left with one another. Eileen is a fighter, but for this battle she needs an army.
Eileen's Story
In early August of 2014, the lives and future of Eileen, Tony and little Lily were changed forever. After experiencing a year of chronic back pain following the birth of Lily, Eileen's doctors found and diagnosed the young woman with Stage 3 rectal cancer. Considering the type of cancer, Eileen was initially given 5 years to live.
Following her secondary scans, just weeks later, it was found that the cancer had spread to both her pelvic floor and liver, increasing her battle and reducing time with Tony and their toddler as she took all the treatment far from home.
Last week, in February of 2015, Eileen was told by doctors that the cancer has now spread to her stomach. She has been told she may only have a year to live or that she must undertake several operations with no guarantee of success.
The initial diagnoses was given just weeks after the little family had made the big move hours from home and family to take out a mortgage on their first home. Now, the young family has found themselves struggling to come to terms with the emotional, physical and financial burden of this news.
Eileen has bravely suffered through chemotherapy and radio therapy, with a lot of pain and no significant improvement. The cancer keeps spreading to Stage 4, and the operations she now faces will be traumatic, painful and strip her quality of life dramatically. There is no promise that they will give her and her family more time.
She is a very courageous young woman who does not complain but has hit a wall with this battle. She does not give in. She keeps fighting. But, for this fight, she needs an army like you and me in support.
All Eileen wants is to have her husband and toddler with her. The reason I have made this fundraiser is to support that understandable request. Eileen wants to spend her remaining time with the people she loves. Without financial support however, Tony will be forced to choose between working; sacrificing time he could be at home supporting Eileen, or not working and struggling to feed the family and support Lily's future.
Please, help me give this family the time they deserve together.
Eileen is not prepared to accept the local diagnosis. Recently ,Eileen and her family, have been given advice concerning alternative therapy in Australia or the USA. The cost is certainly beyond the couple at this time so our fundraising may extend to support travel to the Deepak Chopra Clinic at home (if a certified provider may be located) or in the USA.
