Our beautiful Eileen has been diagnosed with an aggressive breast cancer. In true Eileen fashion, she acted immediately - she found a lump, saw her doctor the next day, and within two weeks is already starting chemo.
She’s facing this with grit, humour, and her trademark determination. But the reality is sobering: months of aggressive chemo, multiple surgeries, and gruelling radiation lie ahead. As her oncologist said:
“This will be the hardest thing you will ever do… and we get one swing at this.”
Phase 1 is underway now, eight weeks of the toughest chemo designed to shrink the cancer and give her the best chance at a cure. Time is critical.
Eileen has always worked hard, saved, and planned - but cancer is expensive. Even with private health, the out-of-pocket costs are huge: treatments, scans, specialist appointments, hospital stays, wigs, supplements, medications, surgery, meal prep, transport, and extended periods not working. As Eilsy herself said (with her usual wit):
“It’s hard to have breast cancer in this economy.”
Eileen also lives on her own, which makes this battle even tougher. With her family based interstate and without a partner to share the financial or day-to-day load, she’s carrying everything herself - emotionally, physically, and financially. That’s why the support of her community matters so much right now.
We’re launching this GoFundMe to give her the best chance to focus purely on her health, healing, and maybe - just maybe - saving that gorgeous head of hair (yes, even that comes with treatment costs).
Her SANCTUM work family has been wonderfully supportive, and her hope is to return when she can. But for now, she needs rest, space, and stability — free from financial stress.
Your support will go directly to helping cover:
Medical expenses and medications
Essential treatments and surgeries
Therapies to reduce permanent hair loss, plus a wig
Nutritious meals
Gentle exercise gear for home (movement helps chemo work better)
A cleaner (E lives solo)
Ubers to medical appointments when driving isn't an option
Eilsy is one of the most generous friends you could have - the kind who flies across the country for your milestone, sends surprise treats, or checks in between meetings just to make sure you’re okay. Now it’s our turn to rally around her.
Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference. And if you can’t give right now, sharing this page or sending words of encouragement means the world.
She’s got the fight in her, but she needs her army behind her.
With love and gratitude,
