This story is about my grand-dog. Her name is Dolly and my name is Eileen, or Baca as all my grandkids and grand-dogs know me. Dolly is so appropriately named because she is truly a doll! She is a rescue dog who was saved from a hoarding situation and quickly captured our hearts and became part of our family in 2021. A genetic study showed that Dolly was a mixture of around 13 breeds, and probably some incest occurred due to the hoarding environment. Dolly seemed to develop normally, but at around 2 years old, she began to bleed from her nostrils. At first, we would just wipe it away, but then her nose began to crust up, and the bleeding episodes became more frequent and were harder to stop. She would appear distressed as she would lick her nose and sometimes seemed like she was struggling to breathe and then would vomit the blood up. These episodes are exhausting and terrifying for both Dolly and the family. We took her to our family vet, and they ran a series of tests, but the vet really couldn't give us a firm diagnosis and suggested we visit the CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital. There, they ran a series of tests as well and were able to give us some idea of the things it could be. In order to make a firm diagnosis, some more testing needs to be done.
They would need to perform and be charging for the following: abdomen X-ray, angiogram, CT scan, anesthesia, endoscopy, liver biopsy, biopsy of the skin on her nose, and a blood transfusion. The blood transfusion is recommended as soon as possible because her blood shows that she is severely anemic. After this, a treatment plan will be formulated, probably with meds and regular lab work to keep track of her health. The cost estimation given to us from CSU is $5,000 and is much more than we can handle.
If you could support our campaign by making a donation and sharing it with your friends and network, we would greatly appreciate it. This is a great cause and every little bit helps, so please, even $10.00 gets us closer to getting Dolly the medical help she needs. It is our hope and prayer that we will be able to pay for the privilege to save Dolly's life!
