Eid Al-Adha 2019 RI
Donation protected
About the event
This is an event that celebrates Eid Al-Adha, one of two major Muslim holidays during the year. Eid Al-Adha honors the willingness of prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son. Gathering with friends and family is a common tradition Muslims follow for celebrating Eid.
The event is targeted, but not limited, to the Muslim community in Rhode Island. It is meant to honor the Muslim community and strengthen our ties to one another.
Time and location
The event will take place on August 17, 2019 in Manville Memorial Park at 12:00 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Cost
Expected number of attendees is 750 people.
Details of cost allocation are as follows:
Food $2000.00
Park rental $50
Supplies (water, plates, napkins) $690.68
Entertainment (bounce house, face painting, prizes, etc.) $800
Total $3540.68
Any dollar that is raised and not used for the event will be donated to the mosques in Rhode Island.
Funding is needed by July 17th at the latest to honor reservations made (bounce house, catering, etc...).
Why support this cause?
In Rhode Island, these type of get-togethers are rare and when they do occur its beautiful because:
1. Many of the Muslims here in Rhode Island are immigrants. Living in a different country can be isolating. Events such as these, especially when sponsored by the community, enable these families to build stronger bonds to the greater community.
2. This event brings together a vast range of cultures that celebrate their own culture individually and collectively through a common religious umbrella. This promotes a greater understanding of other cultures.
3. Every child is smiling or laughing until they are told its time to leave. Who would not want to give a child a chance at a bounce house for the afternoon?
4. It gives a chance for my 20-month-old son to believe my claim that he has 750 relatives in Rhode Island.
5. The more you give the more we can ensure that this event is a blast!
