Support for Mom After Tragic House Fire

On March 31st around 11pm, the home my mother shared with her father in South Carolina caught fire. Both of them were sent to a Burn center in Georgia. Unfortunately, my Grandfather did not survive the fire and my mom has been in a hospital for over a week 4 hours away from "home".

Currently, she is on a high level of oxygen trying to heal her lungs, process losing her Dad and everything she owned.

We are hopeful that insurance will take care of some of the long term costs, but are faced with the dilemma of where does she go while we wait.

She will require large amounts of oxygen for sometime, until her lungs heal. Unfortunately, she has very little family in South Carolina where "home" is. At this point she will be staying on a couch until we can get insurance situated.

My mom, although a simple woman who doesn't require much, deserves to sleep in a bed and have some of her own space. She has been through such a tragedy and is starting over with nothing. Imagine if you woke up in a hospital 4 hours away from home. Imagine if your Dad didn't survive. Imagine if you were told your house was a complete loss. Imagine if you didn't have shoes let alone a bed to call your own. This is my mom's current reality. She has lost everything, some things that can never be replaced.

My hope is that we can ease some of the immediate financial burden so she can focus on healing both physically and emotionally.
