Hi, my name is Hazel Dadanlar. I am a business professor at Coastal Carolina University, which I happily call my home. However, my home country Turkiye (and my hometown Hatay-the most affected area), was hit by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake that affected hundreds of thousands of people in the southeastern part of Turkiye. About 50,000 people lost their lives, hundreds of thousands were injured, and many thousands are still under the rubble. I have been profoundly devastated and heartbroken by this tragic news.
My immediate family lives in the area, and I am grateful they are safe/alive, living in tents. I know they have been trying to help/share their resources/savings with others in any way they can. However, most people in the area struggle to put food on the table and care for their families during this crisis. Not a day passes as I hear heartbreaking stories from the most affected (lost their families, homes, and animals they relied on earning their lives, etc.), and I know I need to do more for them.
So, please help me help them and spread awareness that the need for contributions/support is ongoing. I hope to serve as the bridge between compassionate people and those in need in the most affected area. This is our chance to help and give back.
Your support is critical; every donation, no matter the size, will significantly impact the lives of those affected by the earthquake. Your contributions will be used exclusively to provide direct aid to those needing groceries, meals, and necessities for their families. I will personally oversee the distribution of funds and ensure they go to the most affected people in the area.
I appreciate your support. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of many during this devastating tragedy.
